Do you remember the Car Park controvesy in Camelford?
The local Council installed Pay and Display machines in the Car Park which had always been free.
Adverse public opinion, forced them to hold a referendum
to decide the issue. They lost the vote but refused to take
out the machines!
This started a storm of protest that culminated in the old
Council being voted out of office and the Town Clerk losing his job.

Needless to say the Car Park is free again!
The new Council faces an uphill challenge as business has not improved in the town, as was hoped, but
a free Car Park is a great asset. Let us hope the local
community can afford the maintenance?
